About Jason

No matter the size of the adventure — be prepared.

Hey there! I’m Jason—lifelong camper, full-time remote worker, part-time farmhand, and the guy who learned (the wet way) that winterizing your camper is not optional.

My family and I live in the Blue Ridge foothills of Virginia, where our “small farm” is more like a petting zoo: three horses, a mini mule, a couple dozen chickens, two potbelly pigs, and around eight goats (give or take). Add in a senior rescue hound, an energetic border collie, and two Great Pyrenees who treat visitors like VIP tour guests, and you get the picture.

Learning the Hard Way (So You Don’t Have To)

Our starter camper taught us plenty—mostly through memorable mistakes. Like the time I flushed the toilet and watched fresh water rush across the floor because it hadn’t been properly winterized. The dogs loved their new splash pad. I did not.

There was also the midnight toe-stubbing incident that turned into a canine wake-up call. These days, the dogs claim the kitchenette as their sleeping quarters. Everyone’s happier.

Farm Tales You’ll Hear

When someone stops by while we’re traveling, there’s always that one goat who slips out, follows them around begging for snacks—and now the baby goat does it too. Meanwhile, the Great Pyrenees keep the wildlife away and personally “escort” guests like four-legged park rangers.

My Camping Philosophy

Night one is for pizza. Nothing says “we made it” like being too tired to unpack the grill. And yes, I keep a couple of over-toasted hot dogs handy to “accidentally” drop when the dogs are nearby. Keeps morale high.

Final Thought

Life isn’t about being tied to one spot just because you’ve got kids, pets, or responsibilities. It’s about finding ways to make every part of life—barn chores and campfire nights—work together when you’re willing to try.

Thank you for stopping by and being part of our journey! I’m always updating the site with new camping stories, gear tips, and lessons learned from life on the farm and on the road. Check back often for fresh posts and updates — there’s always something new to share from the next adventure!
